Why test?
All
UK businesses of all sizes need to comply with the Electricity
At Work Regulations 1989, which require electrical systems to be
maintained so as to minimise danger. This means that you, as an
employer, have to make sure that you, your employees and anyone
else who comes into contact with electrical equipment are not
exposed to danger arising from faults in the equipment.
All portable electrical appliances should be visually checked by
the user at regular intervals to identify obvious faults, such
as exposed conductors or signs of overheating. Some faults,
however, may be hidden from view and might only be detectable by
dismantling the plug or by performing electrical tests. These
tests have to be performed by a suitably trained person. Our
inspectors have been trained to C&G 2377 standards.
You also need to be able to show that you have tested and
maintained your appliances with appropriate records. As part of
our service, we will provide you with this documentation.
